Senior Consultant (Environment, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management)
The Position
Steadman Global seeks to hire the services of a well-qualified and experienced Senior Consultant Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management to responsible for the technical oversight, management, and successful delivery of projects across multiple sectors
Your key responsibilities are:
- Lead the design, planning, and implementation of Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management projects for public institutions, private sector actors, and development partners.
- Design national or sectoral climate and disaster risk strategies, and climate change and disaster risk management frameworks aligned with global best practices and local contexts.
- Guide feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and implementation roadmaps for environment and climate investments and transformation initiatives.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring delivery of technically sound, context-relevant, and timely outputs.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement processes, including government consultations, user research, capacity-building workshops, and co-creation labs.
- Lead the development of environment policy briefs, reports, toolkits, and technical guidelines for institutional use.
- Support environment and climate change initiatives’ monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) and contribute to knowledge dissemination.
- Contribute to proposal writing, client negotiations, and business development efforts in the environment and climate change portfolio.
- Mentor junior consultants and provide quality assurance for technical outputs across environment-related assignments.
- Provide high-quality technical leadership and direction on multi-sectoral assignments, ensuring methodological rigor and context relevance.
- Coordinate and supervise multidisciplinary teams, manage project timelines and deliverables, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Job Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of technical consulting experience in international development, with demonstrated ability to work across multiple sectors.
- Experience undertaking strategic assessment, business and development planning, feasibility assessments, project design, M&E, and economic or policy analysis.
- Familiarity with donor-funded programs (e.g., World Bank, AfDB, EU, UNDP, GIZ, USAID) and government-led initiatives.
- Strong writing, facilitation, and project management skills with an ability to lead high-stakes assignments under tight deadlines.
