The Position
The High School ICT/ICDL teacher will be responsible for teaching ICT per UNEB syllabus at the S1-S4 level. This involves planning a scope and sequence for each year and term for the year-levels assigned; developing lesson plans for each lesson; delivering content and developing skills using active-learning methods to engage all learners; designing, delivering and providing feedback on assessments, and using assessment data to design interventions for all learners.
The ICT/ICDL teacher shall also introduce the appropriate ICDL programs, in consultation with the Principal and the CEO, for teachers and students as directed, and lead the school in getting certified as an ICDL centre. The ICT/ICDL teacher shall also introduce Cisco Networking Academy programs for S1 to S2 students, in consultation with the Principal and the CEO. The ICDL and Cisco programs shall be introduced and delivered separately, and as part of the National Certificate in ICT defined by NCDC.
All teachers shall create and foster a positive teaching and learning environment in their classrooms or work areas where every child is cared for and respected. Teachers assist each child to reach their highest potential in all areas of school life. encouraging children to work cooperatively together but also having the highest level of cooperation with teaching colleagues and the school administration.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this role include:
Class Atmosphere and Ethos
- Adopt a positive approach to all students in the school in respect of capability, behaviour and cultural diversity.
- Maintain the classroom in a safe, clean and orderly manner, valuing and displaying children’ work, promptly reporting any damage or misuse.
- Check student appearance (personal hygiene and uniform) and lesson attendance. Set a good example by being well-dressed and punctual for school duties.
- Implement consistent guidance, counselling and behaviour policies in accordance with the school policy.
- Adhere to the current timings of the school for lessons, activities and special events. Be present in school at all times during school hours.
- Treat all pupils’ records with utmost confidentiality.
Teaching and Learning
- Prepare scope and sequences for each term and each year, create and use daily lesson plans.
- Deliver lessons using active learning methods and use assessment for learning to check for understanding and modify teaching accordingly to achieve learning by all students.
- Be responsible for the development of a growth mind-set in students to learn critical thinking skills, ethics, creativity, responsibility, respect, problem solving skills.
- To collaborate with other teachers in the school and regional PLC community for purposes of improving teaching and learning and aligned to the 21st century teaching.
- Set and mark homework following Department/school policy. Check notebooks and use them to design further teaching and to advise students on improvements required.
- Maintain a record of work, mark sheets and organise educational support sessions where necessary to meet targets.
- Set, mark and moderate examinations under the direction of Head of Department. Use data from assessments and exam results to improve student learning. Prepare end of term reports within the deadlines set.
- Prepare students thoroughly for good examination success liaising with colleagues on strategies, targets, revision programme etc.
- Achieve exams targets for the subject and the school.
- Participate with other teachers in the character development of students
- Be willingly involved in the wider cultural and sporting life of the school. Each teacher will help in Club and House activities. Promote student leadership and responsibility whenever possible.
Community Relations
- Hold informal and formal discussions with parents (teacher-parent conferences) on performance of their children.
- Attend parent meetings at his/her class level, and specialist teachers should attend such meetings.
- Promote the good image of the school within and outside the school environment.
Personal and Professional Development
- Participate in professional development programmes e.g., workshops on modern teaching and learning approaches, computer training etc. Implement, and share, learnings from workshops/training.
- Identify own professional growth areas; develop and implement action plans for professional growth to improve teaching skills.
- Demonstrate professional behaviour in all interactions with other staff, students and management.
Job Requirements
This job will require you to have:
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Education/ B.A. or BSc with PGDE
- ICDL certification
Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of Teaching experience in the relevant curriculum
- Proven consistency in class work performance
- In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures
Skills (technical/behavioural):
- Proficiency in use of Technology
- Thorough knowledge of a particular discipline
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
